SOuth Korea's Population in 1950This is the population pyramid of South Korea in 1950. Looking at the pyramid, there was a high birth and death rate, which signifies that this was a developing country during the 1950's. The pyramid looks like a "Christmas tree" because high birth rate at the base and a short life expectancy at the top.
The highest percentage of population of dependent children were the ages 0-4. Since, there was a high population of the children and a short life expectancy, this was a developing country during the 1950. The lowest percentage of population were the older adults between the ages of 75-79 of 0.1%; this signifies that the death rate was high. What I have found interesting about this pyramid is that there was a drop in percentage the ages of 15-19, then it increased at the ages of 25-29, then slowly decreases. Another thing to note, is no one lived between the ages of 80-84 during 1950. |
SOUTH KOREA'S POPULATION IN 2017This is the population pyramid of South Korea in 2017. Looking at the pyramid, there is a low birth rate and a longer life expectancy than in 1950. Many of the people are living longer and beyond the ages of 90-94. This pyramid looks like a cup due the low birth rate and longer life expectancy.
The highest percentage of both population is the age group 45-49. After looking at the population pyramid, the shift was made causing the babies that were born in 1950 to move up the pyramid to the middle aged and working class. This would mean that the population has a high population of middle aged and older adults in South Korea. What I have found noticed is that the life expectancy increased and it's interesting because you could tell that South Korea as become a developed country that has access medical facilities that are effective. |
